If you are looking for a decent phone, with a decent calling plan, here's what we recently found out.
I should mention we are with AT&T, and we already have a Messaging Unlimited for Families plan.
We just got our daughter a Samsung Impression. (It cost $59.99 after rebate). We also got her the $10 a month unlimited data plan.
AND HERE LIES THE CLINCHER.
If you don't rush out and get your kid a "smartphone" you can get them a very reasonable alternative, (aka Quick Messaging Device) with touch screen, qwerty keyboard, and all the internet usage (youtube, facebook) that they want ... and it only costs $10.00 per month. As opposed to $30.00 per month if you get them one of the "smartphones".
This took us over 3 hours to figure out, walking through every tiny detail of our plan, and what we wanted, with an AT&T rep a few weekends ago, but so far it has been worth the research.
Some of you (you tech whizzes out there know who are ... hi Andy!) and I'm sure you probably know all this stuff already, but for us poor Mums who just want a quiet life, and a decent phone this was the perfect answer for us.
Oh, and on May 2nd when this loyal AT&T user is eligible for her $18.00 upgrade waiver, she's gonna go out and get one too!
